Radon inspections in the Middle Tennessee Area should be considered mandatory. We are in one of the highest rated areas for radon in the country.
Radon is an odorless, tasteless, and invisible gas produced by the decay of naturally occurring uranium in soil and groundwater. It is responsible for the deaths of some 20,000+ cases of lung cancer deaths each year in the United States. Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers and the second leading cause of lung cancer. In the Nashville Area the predicted radon levels average are greater than 4pCi/L (picocuries per liter) (red zones). The EPA recommends mitigation for any level above 4pCi/L! So in other words if you buying a home in the greater Nashville area or any surrounding area do yourself a favor and have your home tested for Radon.
TPI's radon test take a minimum of 48 hours, once our test is complete we can print out your report on site or email it. Unlike most inspection companies that use canisters and ship them to labs we use a computer that measures the alpha particles that radon emits. There is no need to wait for lab results, worry about the lab loosing, or mixing up results. Our system also has sensors to inform us if the test has been tampered with.
